UPDATES ABOUT LASSA FEVER



  The total reported numbers of people confirmed to be affected with the virus are 258 and 19 death. The Director General of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu reported that the disease is caused by rodent and it doesn't cause disease in the rodents while the disease is transfer to humans it becomes a very deadly disease. Its spread at certain part of the year mostly in the first three months of the year, what is happening in Nigeria is that so many years people used to be diagnosed with all such of Malaria, Malaria and Ty ford and all such kind of diseases.
    Over the past three years they have increased their surveying capacity through the Nigerian Center for Disease Control and other partner agencies, increase awareness , increase the number of laboratories, because it is very difficult  to diagnose it takes a special type of laboratory and they now have five of the labs from two which is very expensive to mange it takes One Hundred Million Naira for each of the labs. 
   For the helps of these lab Doctors are now aware more cases of lassa has now been found. 




     The precautions measures taken by the Medical bodies for the management of the disease include formulating bodies in some states that will manage the spread of the disease such as in Ebonyi and Eruwa. There are supported emergency operation center set up in twenty-two states in Nigeria where to coordinate the response to the out break, it is critical.Secondly, infection prevention and control among health care workers is probably the most important method because patients always come to hospital there for, Doctors can not just assume it is Malaria and the touch them or manage them with out any protection so, the universal message is now announced that every doctor has to use a universal precautions including gloves before diagnosing the patients.
   Thirdly, there is no vaccines for the disease maybe later, the thing doctors need to do now is to use gloves, test before treating a patient and suspect other fever causes other than Malaria.
   and, the last but not the Least Markets mostly those selling food stuffs should make an additional care on how to protect their goods from rodent.As in Ekiti, the most popular visited market Head reported that apart from weekly sanitation they use to have ,they have added another day which means they always have two sanitation every week.
    Lastly, The Nigerian Minister of health advice people that if you see any one near you developing any symptoms like cough, Cather, sneezing, and breathing difficulties during this period should be reported to the nearest health facilities. He also advises all airlines to report as fast as possible any case of a passenger falling sick on board before the plane land. The Nigerian port Health Services and the Nigerian Center for Disease Control are on alert on airport and other points of entry for protecting the Nigerian citizens.
