Palpable fear has
gripped the families of the seven persons kidnapped by notorious abductors at a
cinema centre in Birinin Magaji town in Birinin Magaji local government area of
Zamfara state as they are now demanding a ransom of N60 million.
Speaking with jornalists
this morning in Gusau, the state capital, a close relative of one of the
affected victims who declined to disclose his name due to security reasons said
the kidnappers numbering over twenty stormed the cinema centre at about 9.30pm
on Saturday, pretending to be guards of the viewing centre and later abducted
the people.
“At exactly 9.30pm when
the viewers were walking out from the viewing centre after a football match,
leaving only the operators – Sanusi Sani, his brother, Zubairu Sani Kaura and
Bala Dankasa, the abductors attacked them and kidnapped them and took them to
an unknown destination.”
According to him, the
abductors on their way to Kuya village, few kilometres to Birinin Magaji town.
met other four persons whom he said they also kidnapped to make them seven.
He gave the four
kidnapped persons as Yusuf shekau, Shasu DanIsiya , Bello Kwaso and Nura
Mohammad.
” As I’m talking to you
now, the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N60 million if we want to secure
them. We cannot even boast of N100 let alone N60 million. I am appealing to the
federal and state governments to come an help us and deploy more troops to the
area so as to rescue the people as we can’t raise the money,” he pledged.
When contacted, the
state Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Mohammad Shehu
confirmed the incident, saying that the PMF, CTU, FSARS combined teams and
conventional police personnel have been deployed to comb the whole areas to
rescue the kidnapped persons and fish out the perpetrators and restore
normalcy.
